Welcome to High School at CLA!

It’s a new day at CLA! After fifty years in ministry as California Lutheran High School, we have broadened our ministry to include grades K-12. We have the same quality high school program, and high school is still a perfect entry point into CLA. We know every student by name here. I’m glad you’re considering CLA for your high school years.

With a low student-to-teacher ratio, students receive personal attention, meaningful challenges, and the support they need to rise to every opportunity. Whether they pursue college, ministry, trades, the military, or other professions, our students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and servant-hearted mindset to rise and serve with purpose.

Each day, we remain steadfast in our mission: California Lutheran Academy exists to teach God’s truth, nurture Christ-centered relationships, and prepare students to live with wisdom and purpose. Our ministry continues to be centered on Christ. Strong, supportive relationships are alive and well here. Our faculty and staff equip students to rise to life’s challenges and opportunities on a daily basis. And the mighty C-Hawk continues to rise on the athletic field! Most importantly, Jesus walks the halls with us, blessing and enriching us each step of the way!

I hope you’ll visit and see all of this for yourself. You’ll feel the energy at California Lutheran Academy – and we’d love to have you here.

Our Educational Philosophy

Equipped to Rise reflects our commitment to preparing students for lives of meaningful impact. We accomplish this by:

Challenging with Purpose

We believe students rise best when learning is intentional, meaningful, and appropriately challenging. Our academic program sets high expectations while promoting curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning. We guide students to think critically, engage deeply with content, and embrace challenges as part of the growth process.

Personalizing the Journey

We recognize that students grow at different rates and benefit from instruction that meets their individual needs. Our smaller class sizes and relational culture allow teachers to respond to individual needs through differentiation, timely feedback, and research-based instruction. Students are known and actively supported as they grow.

Preparing for Impact

We prepare students to use what they’ve learned beyond the classroom. Our academic program emphasizes real-world application, cross-disciplinary thinking, and the development of transferable skills. We want students to graduate ready to contribute as they lead, collaborate, and solve problems in a rapidly changing world.

High School Curriculum

At CLA, high school students are supported as they prepare to be college and career ready. Students receive instruction from experienced teachers who help them meet and exceed the High School Graduation Requirements. Students graduate prepared to make an impact in the world as they lead, collaborate, and solve problems in a rapidly changing world.

When you visit, we’ll be happy to discuss a map of your coursework here during your time with us.

At CLA, academic excellence isn’t just a goal — it’s a result. When measured using the nationally recognized Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment, our students consistently score well above the national average. See the numbers for yourself.

“I wanted to share what a tremendous blessing this school has been to my daughter and to our family. Having her attend here for her last two years of high school was the best thing for her! She’s happy, busy, thriving, and focused on Christ! Thank you!!!”
